Txtx is thrilled to announce the latest development in our journey to simplify smart contract deployment across blockchains—support for EVM-based chains! As the Ethereum ecosystem continues to grow, with new layers and scaling solutions, Txtx is here to make it easier for developers to deploy and manage smart contracts with enhanced security, flexibility, and performance.

While our journey began with the Stacks Blockchain, our roots in the Ethereum ecosystem made it clear that supporting EVM was a natural next step. In this post, we’ll share why Ethereum holds a special place in Txtx’s roadmap, how our experience has shaped this development, and what this integration means for the future of Web3 infrastructure.

The Ethereum Journey: From Ganache to Txtx

My co-founder, Ludo, and I initially met while working on Stacks, the #1 Bitcoin Layer 2. But my journey into blockchain actually started earlier, on Ethereum. In 2019, I joined Consensys to work on Ganache, a foundational blockchain devtool that has supported thousands of developers worldwide. Leading Ganache at its peak usage was an exhilarating experience, giving me insights into the unique challenges Ethereum developers face and the powerful potential of smart contract technology.

Our experience with Stacks was essential in shaping Txtx’s approach, but we knew that Ethereum—and by extension, EVM-based chains—would need to be a core part of Txtx’s offering. With EVM’s continuous evolution, including L2 scaling advancements, the need for robust deployment solutions is greater than ever.

Why Supporting EVM Matters: Addressing the Changing Landscape

Ethereum’s evolution has been remarkable, and with the rise of L2 scaling solutions, the ecosystem now supports a wider range of use cases—from DeFi to gaming, and beyond. However, these advancements have brought new challenges, particularly around deploying and managing smart contracts across various Ethereum layers and rollups.

To ensure Txtx could tackle these pain points, we reached out to builders and Ethereum developers, gathering firsthand insights into the most pressing issues they face. One of the standout themes was the need for a streamlined deployment experience that could handle multi-layer deployments, enable Zero-Knowledge Proof (ZKP) integrations, and adapt to an increasingly modular ecosystem.

Partnerships and Grants: Strengthening Txtx’s EVM Integration
Our journey into the Ethereum ecosystem has been bolstered by several exciting opportunities:

  • Paradigm’s Frontier Event: This August, I was invited to Frontier, an exclusive event hosted by Paradigm in San Francisco. This opportunity allowed us to meet more Ethereum builders, learn about emerging needs, and get hands-on experience with the latest technologies. During the event’s hackathon, we even managed to implement experimental support for SP1—an innovative new layer dedicated to Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKP). We’re excited to share more about SP1 in an upcoming post, so stay tuned!

  • Ethereum Foundation Grant: Thanks to our previous work in the Ethereum ecosystem, we were able to connect with the Ethereum Foundation and secure a grant to support the development of our EVM integration. This funding allows Txtx to extend its toolset and provide developers with a seamless experience for EVM-based smart contract deployment.

The Road Ahead: Join Us at Devcon 2024 in Bangkok

We’re just getting started with our EVM journey, and we’re excited to engage with the broader Ethereum community. As we roll out our EVM integration, we invite developers, partners, and blockchain enthusiasts to meet us at Devcon 2024 in Bangkok this November. This event is a fantastic opportunity to connect, share insights, and demonstrate how Txtx can make a difference in your development process.

If you’re attending Devcon and want to learn more about Txtx, or if you’re interested in how our EVM support can streamline your smart contract deployments, please reach out—we’d love to chat!

The Ethereum ecosystem has always been a hub of innovation, and with Txtx’s new EVM integration, we’re excited to support that innovation by simplifying smart contract deployment and management. From scaling solutions to ZKP integration, Txtx is dedicated to building tools that grow alongside Ethereum and meet the evolving needs of developers.

Whether you’re an early builder on Ethereum, a new project on a scaling solution, or exploring ZKP technology, Txtx is here to make your development journey easier and more secure. Reach out, stay connected, and join us on this exciting journey as we continue expanding Txtx to serve the broader blockchain ecosystem.

Let’s build the future of Web3 infrastructure together. See you at Devcon!
